CCD Boulder Creek Renovations, Denver, CO

Legacy Mechanical worked closely with Howell Construction to demolish the interior of the existing CCD Boulder Creek building. During construction two classrooms remained in use and were tempered with a temporary air handling unit. The ensuing retrofit was for the installation of new dental, veterinary, and medical classroom training spaces. This required saw cutting and interior excavation for new waste, compressed air and vacuum lines. The existing air handling unit was removed and replaced with a 60,000cfm penthouse unit and a 10,750cfm additional rooftop unit. All roof drain piping was rerouted and the building received new domestic water, heating and chilled water, compressed air, vacuum, oxygen, and air distribution.

The most challenging part of retrofit projects are the unknowns. This project had a fair amount of utilities that were no longer code complaint, but by working with the owner, the GC, and the design team we were able to surmount those challenges without a large impact to the project or its end goals.
